History of the Institution

Georgian National University SEU, Ltd. was established on November 19, 2001. At different points in time, the above University carried out its activities under the following titles:

• Ilia Chavchavadze Georgian National University, Ltd.
• Teaching University SEU, Ltd.
• Teaching National University SEU, Ltd.

Accreditation/Authorization:

In Georgia, the process of institutional accreditation of higher education institutions started in 2005. From September 2010, the process of licensing educational activities and institutional accreditation was abolished and the authorization of educational institutions began. The educational programs administrated before the commencement of the 2005-2006 academic year by the Higher Education Institutions established under the requirements of the law of Georgia are state-recognized.

* On February 15, 2005, Ilia Chavchavadze Georgian National University, Ltd. was refused institutional accreditation. However, the educational programs administrated by the above-mentioned education institution for the students enrolled pursuant to the procedure established by the law were regarded as accredited before the commencement of the 2007-2008 academic year.

** Georgian National University SEU, Ltd. was entitled to administer the state-recognized higher education programs for the students enrolled pursuant to the procedure established by the law, from December 17, 2001, until the commencement of the 2007-2008 academic year and following December 24, 2009.
